Newark Police obtained for the arrest of Mr. Aquil Sykes, 33, of Newark who they say is wanted for a domestic-related aggravated assault that occurred Sunday, April 15th.
According to a brief statement released by police, while the suspect and the victim reportedly were engaged in a verbal confrontation. The victim, a one-time roommate of Sykes’, was struck about the head and body with a pipe by Sykes following the argument.
Police say Sykes then ran from the scene.
Detectives from the Special Victims Section investigating this incident have secured a warrant for Sykes’ arrest on charges of aggravated assault, the unlawful possession of a weapon and possession of a weapon for an illegal purpose.
The investigation remains active and ongoing.
