Newark -- Acting Essex County Prosecutor Carolyn A. Murray and East Orange Public Safety Director Sheilah Coley announced today that the East Orange Police Department and the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide/Major Crimes Task Force are investigating the murder of 90-year-old Henry Boyd.
According to authorities Boyd was discovered unresponsive in his South Harrison Avenue apartment by a family member yesterday evening.
Emergency medical personnel were called and the victim was pronounced dead at the scene authorities said.
Following an autopsy today, Mr. Boyd’s death was ruled a homicide caused by compression of the throat and fracture of the larynx.
The investigation is active and ongoing.
