A 79-year-old Orange man with a ticket to Mobile, Ala was arrested after a loaded gun was found in his carry-on luggage at Newark Liberty International Airport today.
According to Port Authority police spokesman Joe Pentangelo, an officer operating the X-ray machine at a security checkpoint spotted a loaded .38-revolver in his carry-on luggage Saturday.
The handgun was confiscated and James Simmons, of Orange was placed under arrest.
Simmons was released after posting $1,500 bail.
The incident is under investigation.
