67-Year-Old Pedestrian Seriously Injured in Jersey City Collision

Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez said the Hudson County Regional Collision Investigation Unit and the Jersey City Police Department are investigating a crash that seriously injured a 67-year-old woman in Jersey City on Wednesday, February 23.

According to Prosecutor Suarez, at approximately 1:48 p.m., the Jersey City Police Department was notified of a pedestrian struck near the intersection at John F. Kennedy Boulevard and Montgomery Street.

Prosecutor Suarez stated that responding officers found a 67-year-old woman with a serious injury to a lower extremity.

Prosecutor Suarez says a preliminary investigation by the Hudson County Regional Collision Investigation Unit determined the woman was crossing between two stopped vehicles when the rear vehicle accelerated and struck her. The driver of the striking vehicle remained at the scene.

Prosecutor Suarez says Emergency Medical Services transported the 67-year-old woman to Jersey City Medical Center. As of Thursday morning, she is in stable condition.

According to Prosecutor Suarez, the Hudson County Regional Collision Investigation Unit and the Jersey City Police Department are actively investigating this incident.
