Plainfield Police are on the search for the driver of a vehicle that slammed into a pedestrian then drove away from the scene on Sunday.
According to a statement released by Plainfield Police officials, at approximately 7:14 pm, Plainfield Police units responded to the area of Park Avenue and Belleview Avenue on a report of a Motor Vehicle Crash involving a pedestrian.
Officials say, upon the officer's arrival, they located a severely injured 66-year-old male from New Brunswick lying in the roadway.
The victim was transported to an area hospital where he later died from his injuries according to Plainfield Police officials.
The Plainfield Police Traffic Unit was notified, responded and is investigating.
