64-Year-Old Ramsey Man Arrested for Car Burglaries

Paramus authorities announced the arrest of Garo Altunyan, 64-year-old, of Ramsey, for three incidents of Burglary to Auto.

According to officials, on December 27, 2022, the Paramus Police Department responded to the Armenian Presbyterian Church on Forest Avenue in Paramus regarding a theft from the auto.

Officials say the victim reported that $1200 cash had been stolen from his parked car.

Paramus detectives began an investigation in regards to this theft. Police determined that two similar events had occurred in the church parking on March 10, 2022, and on August 23, 2022.

According to officials, through an  investigation, police was able to develop a suspect vehicle in these thefts.

After staking out the car, he positively identified Garo Altunyan as the suspect wanted for the thefts.

On January 25, Altunyan turned himself into the Paramus Police Department. 

He was then arrested, booked, and processed.

Police said Altunyan was released on his recognizance until his initial court appearance.

The defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
