Temperatures have fallen nearly 30 degrees from earlier this week, making for a much more comfortable start to the day. As of 4:30 a.m., it was 61 degrees in downtown Newark under cloudy skies.

If you’re heading out to the bus stop, work, or school this morning, be sure to pack an umbrella.

While today will not be a washout, periods of rain and scattered showers are expected throughout the morning and into the early afternoon.

According to the National Weather Service, showers are likely mainly between 8 a.m. and 2 p.m. Skies will remain cloudy with temperatures holding steady around 61 degrees. Winds will be out of the north at 7 to 9 mph, and the chance of precipitation is 70 percent.

Rainfall amounts are expected to remain light, generally less than one-tenth of an inch.

Tonight, conditions will gradually improve with mostly cloudy skies and overnight temperatures dipping to around 54 degrees. Winds will become light and variable.
