A fast-moving fire tore through a vacant building in Newark Sunday morning, prompting a multi-alarm response and sending one firefighter to the hospital.
According to information released by Emanuel Miranda, crews were dispatched at approximately 9:20 a.m. on April 19 to a reported fire at 169 Clinton Avenue.
The blaze quickly escalated, with a second alarm struck at 9:34 a.m., followed by a third alarm just ten minutes later as conditions intensified.
During firefighting operations, one firefighter sustained a non-life-threatening injury and was transported to University Hospital for treatment.
No other injuries were reported.
Fire officials brought the blaze under control at approximately 10:18 a.m.
The cause and origin of the fire remain under active investigation by the Newark Department of Public Safety Arson Unit.
