Authorities in Middlesex County are investigating a crash that claimed the life of a 27-year-old motorcyclist in South Plainfield Saturday evening.
According to a statement released by Middlesex County Prosecutor Linda Estremera, Chief of County Detectives Wayne Canasta and South Plainfield Police Chief Peter J. Papa, police received a 911 call at approximately 7:22 p.m. September 12 reporting a collision at Ledden Terrace and Clinton Avenue.
Officers arriving at the scene found a motorcycle operated by Sierra Grey, 27, of South Plainfield, and a Subaru Outback driven by a 76-year-old South Plainfield man.
Grey suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities said the Subaru driver was not injured.
A preliminary investigation determined that the Subaru was making a left turn from Clinton Avenue onto Ledden Terrace when a Honda SBR1000 motorcycle struck the vehicle on the front driver’s side.
Sergeant Shane McCoid of the South Plainfield Police Department and Detective James Barnes of the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office are investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash.
The investigation remains active and ongoing.
