24-Year-Old Jersey City Man Pleads Not Guilty to Fatal Shooting in Newark

Today a Jersey City man pleaded not guilty during his arraignment before Superior Court Judge Ronald Wigler.

On June 24, authorities responded to South 16th Street in Newark for a report of a shooting that killed 46-year-old Karieem Stamps from Newark.

Lance Herbert, 24, of Jersey City, was one of several arrests announced by the prosecutor's office.

Herbert was been charged with aggravated manslaughter and weapons offenses.

The judge referred matter to the grand jury. Herbert remains in custody at the Essex County Correctional Facility with a $500,000 bail.
