Newark

Residents in the Newark/North Jersey region of the state should prepare for the possibility of getting wet this afternoon, as National WeatherService forecasters call for showers likely after 2 pm Saturday.

According to NWS, while the chance of precipitation is relatively high at 70%, the expected amount is less than a tenth of an inch, so the rain is not likely to cause significant problems.

However, I would say it may still be a good idea to carry an umbrella or wear a raincoat if going outside.

The National Weather Service said today will be mostly cloudy, with a high near 72.

That's about 20 degrees cooler than Friday, which reached a high of 92 in Neark and much of NJ, but still considered beautiful and will feel refreshing.

Forecasters said south wind will be 5 to 7 mph in the morning, then becoming southeast in the afternoon.

While the wind is not expected to be strong enough to cause any significant impact, forecasters said if you are venturing out on the waters, it may create some choppy waves for boaters and beachgoers.

The cooler and more comfortable weather is expected to continue throughout the weekend, with highs in the mid to upper 60s and lows in the 40s to 50s.

NWS forecasters said Sunday should be mostly sunny, with a high near 68, making it an excellent day for outdoor activities such as hiking, biking, or picnicking.

Make it a GREAT day, NJ and as always, stay informed and stay safe out there.
