A 2-year-old boy drowned in a backyard pool of a Overpeck Avenue home in Ridgefield Park Thursday evening, police said.
Police responded to an Overpeck Avenue home where they found a man administering CPR to the child.
Despite emergency crew efforts the child did not survive.
Bergen County Sheriff’s Bureau of Criminal Identification responded and an investigation was initiated. This appears to be a tragedy at this time.
Although additional details were not immediately available, police did say that the child was being supervised by a family friend.
