16K Residents Affected by Major Power Outage in Newark's North Ward

Newark Police officials are reporting that residents are experiencing major power outages, mainly in the North Ward, and at other locations throughout the city, as a result of Tropical Storm Isaias.

Officials said a wide band of power outages are reported in the following areas:

North Ward:

- Tiffany Blvd to Bloomfield Ave, from Summer Ave to Lake St; and

- Broadway from Herbert St to Grafton Ave, eastbound to McCarter Hwy

East Ward:

- Emmett St to South St from Mulberry St to NJ Railroad Ave

- Ferry St to Raymond Blvd from

Lexington St to Mott St

- Lafayette St to Hamilton St from Jefferson St to Union St

West Ward:

- Norman Rd to Midland Pl from Woodbine to Irvington Ave

South Ward:

- Mapes Ave from Elizabeth Ave to Hunterdon St

Director Ambrose added that the Department of Public Safety is in communication with PSEG and power is expected to be restored by tomorrow.
