15-Year-Old Bronx Teen in Stolen Vehicle Arrested in Secaucus

A 15-year-old boy from New York was arrested Christmas Eve after police allegedly found him with a gun and in a stolen vehicle.

Officials say Monday just before 8 p.m. Secaucus police received a report of a black Jeep Cherokee with a New York license plates driving erratically near Route 3 East. Responding officers spotted a vehicle fitting the description in the area of Sixth Street. When police attempted to stop the vehicle, the teen attempted to leave but he was stopped and questioned.

According to authorities, investigating officers arrested the teen who was also found in possession of marijuana and the key fob to the stolen vehicle.

Police say the teen was charged with unlawful possession of a handgun, unlawful possession of ammunition, unlawful possession of a firearm by a minor, receiving stolen property, possession of marijuana and being an unlicensed driver. The teen was taken to Union County Youth House on Monday.

Police Wednesday returned to the scene and recovered a loaded 9mm handgun.

The investigation into the incident remains ongoing.
