WOMEN'S EMPOWERMENT PANEL AND MARCH TO MAKE HISTORY IN NEWARK

Newark

Newark, NJ - In observance of Women’s History Month, Through Future Eyes Inc. is proud to sponsor our 1st FREE Annual Women’s Journey to Empowerment March & Panel. The purpose is to raise awareness and support the spiritual, physical, financial and emotional growth of women in our communities. Join us in making history!   The march, which begins at 12 noon on Saturday, March 29th 2014, on the steps of City Hall, in Newark NJ; is a partnership between a growing number of organizations serving women in our communities. Women from across the Tri-State Area will march and focus on Education, Health & Wellness, Sisterhood and Financial Literacy!   “Domestic violence, early pregnancy, poverty, cancer and unemployment are just a few issues that plague our communities daily,” said Shennell Barnes, the march’s organizer. “While our communities have individual efforts to combat some of these challenges; we don’t have one that will address them collectively. The Women’s Journey to Empowerment March will provide actionable steps for women to be better for themselves, their families and their communities. “   The Women’s Journey to Empowerment March is open to organizations and groups serving women. Registration is free and can be completed by visiting https://2014womensjourney.eventbrite.com . Through Future Eyes Inc. is excited that several empowerment groups serving women including Unstoppable Girls, Let’s Get Em’ Entertainment and Newark Circle of Sisters are also cosponsoring the march. The procession will begin on the steps of City Hall and end at Rutgers University. Following the march is a panel discussion at the Paul Robeson Centre. Please see flyers below for details.

Through Future Eyes is a volunteer group that has supported community, city and state-wide efforts to combat poverty since 2006. For six years we have provided food, clothing and toys to our residents in Newark and the surrounding communities that need it most. We believe supporting initiatives, such as the Women’s Journey to Empowerment, will directly impact the aggressive growth of poverty across the Tri-State Area. Additionally, we believe it is imperative to host a series of initiatives thereafter; which will continuously set women up for success. We recognize full cycle empowerment won’t happen in one day. However, we believe sparking the desire for women to do better for themselves and their community; in one day, with one march and panel, can.
