Warrant Issued for 20-Year-Old Newark Shooting Suspect

Newark Public Safety Director Anthony F. Ambrose is seeking the public’s help in locating Mr. Nygee Johnson, 20, of Newark, wanted in connection with an aggravated assault shooting.

Police say the incident happened on September 13th, where officers responded to the 100 block of Mapes Terrace just after 9:00 p.m. on a shots fired call.

Upon arrival, officers found evidence that a shooting occurre, however, there were no injuries reported.

Detectives from the Major Crimes Shooting Response Team have developed sufficient evidence identifying Johnson as the shooter then issuing a warrant for his arrest.

This is an on-going investigation. While police are actively searching for the suspect, they seek the public’s assistance in quickly locating and removing him from Newark streets.
