Upper Saddle River Father, Son Among Others Arrested on Drug Charges

An Upper Saddle River father and son were arrested over the weekend after they were busted along with their supplier and two buyers, officials announced today.

Bergen County Prosecutor John L. Molinelli announced the arrest of 19-year-old Benjamin Cody Meyer aka “CODY” and his father 52-year-old Louis Meyer, both of Upper Saddle River; Richard Brooke, 21, of Allendale; Maxwell Heard, 20, of Allendale; and a juvenile from Spring Valley, New York. .

A three month investigation conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office Narcotic Task Force and the Upper Saddle River Police Department revealed that Benjamin Cody Meyer was distributing narcotics, including LSD and Marijuana, to various individuals in the area of Upper Saddle River. On Saturday, January 10, 2015, police personnel from the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Narcotic Task Force and the Upper Saddle River Police Department executed a court authorized search warrant at Meyer’s residence located at 60 Pleasant Avenue, Upper Saddle River.  Prior to the execution of the search warrant, on Saturday, January 10, 2015, surveillance personnel observed two (2) individuals suspected of purchasing controlled dangerous substances from Benjamin Cody Meyer at his residence. When the individuals left Meyer’s residence, a motor vehicle stop was conducted and Richard Brooke and Maxwell Heard were found to be in possession of suspected Marijuana, and under the influence of the same. Both Brooke and Heard were subsequently arrested without incident.  On the same date, a court authorized search warrant was executed at 60 Pleasant Avenue, Upper Saddle River. Police personnel located and seized approximately one hundred (100) hits of suspected LSD, approximately two (2) ounces of suspected Marijuana, approximately one-half (1/2) ounce of suspected Psilocybin Mushrooms and drug paraphernalia, including scales and packaging materials. Additionally, suspected Marijuana and drug paraphernalia were located and seized from Louis Meyer’s private bathroom. The estimated street value of the controlled dangerous substances seized from Meyer’s residence on this date is approximately $2,000.00. During this investigation, one of Benjamin Cody Meyer’s suppliers was identified as a juvenile from Spring Valley, New York. On the same date, this juvenile was also arrested without incident. At the time of his arrest, the juvenile was found to be in possession of approximately two (2) pounds of suspected Marijuana. The estimated street value of the Marijuana seized from the juvenile is approximately $6,000.00.  Benjamin Cody Meyer was charged with one (1) count of Possession with Intent to distribute LSD, a first degree crime; one (1) count of Possession with Intent to Distribute Psilocybin Mushrooms, a third degree crime; and one (1) count of Possession with Intent to Distribute Marijuana, a third degree crime. Bail was set by the Honorable Louis J. Dinice, J.M.C. at $100,000 with no ten percent cash option. Benjamin Cody Meyer was remanded to the Bergen County Jail in lieu of bail. Louis Meyer was charged with one (1) count of Possession of Marijuana (less than 50 grams), a disorderly person’s offense; and one (1) count of Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, a disorderly person’s offense. Louis Meyer was released on a summons pending a first date court appearance on January 13, 2015. Richard Brooke and Maxwell Heard were each charged with one (1) count of Possession of Marijuana (less than 50 grams), a disorderly person’s offense; and one (1) count of Being Under the Influence of same, a disorderly person’s offense. Both Brook and Heard were released on summons pending a first date court appearance on January 13, 2015. The juvenile was charged by juvenile complaint with one (1) count of Possession with Intent to Distribute Marijuana, a third degree crime. The juvenile was released to the custody of his/her parents. .
