An Irvington Township shooting that left a woman dead and a second woman fighting for her life in a Newark hospital this morning is under investigation.
Police were called to the Berkeley Terrace address, near the 700 block of Grove Street, after receiving reports of shots fired.
According to a spokesperson for the Essex County Prosecutor's Office, police arrived at the scene and found both victims suffering gunshot wounds.
EMS rushed the victims to University Hospital where one woman was pronounced dead a short time later.
The second woman is listed in critical but stable condition.
Authorities would not release the identity of the deceased woman until next of kin has been confirmed.
There are no immediate confirmations of arrests made at this time.
