UPDATE: State Regional Medical Examiner to Determine Cause of Death for Jersey City Mother, Baby Found Inside House

Authorities say shortly before 6 a.m., the Jersey City Police Department and Emergency Medical Services responded to 33 Suburbia Court in Jersey City on a report of a woman in need of medical attention.

Upon arrival, Jersey City Police Officers found a 41-year-old female needing assistance as well as an unresponsive female infant.

The age and identity of the deceased infant are unknown at this time.

Authorities say she was pronounced dead at the scene at approximately 6:05 a.m.

The cause and manner of death are pending the findings of the Regional Medical Examiner’s Office.

The 41-year-old woman was transported by EMS to Jersey City Medical Center for treatment. The woman was pronounced dead at approximately 4:50 p.m.

The Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Unit is actively investigating the case with assistance from the Jersey City Police Department.
