Update: Hawthorne Police Arrest Two Suspected Bank Robbers

The Hawthorne Police Department announces the arrest of two men wanted in connection with the TD Bank robbery Wednesday afternoon.

Police were dispatched to TD Bank - located at 617 Lafayette Avenue - shortly after 4 p.m. for a the report of a bank robbery.

Upon arrival, witnesses provided information on the suspect, and suspect vehicle. Video and information was disseminated to surrounding towns, including the Pennsylvania State Police.

The Pennsylvania State Police located 20-year-old Alejandro L. Ortiz, of East Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania, as he crossed into Pennsylvania in the suspected vehicle. He was detained and interviewed by Hawthorne Detectives and a Detective from the FBI Violent Crimes Task Force.

The second suspect, Robert N. Somers, 44, of Little Falls, was arrested today in Wayne after he arrived for court on an unrelated case.

Both men have been charged with robbery.

Bail was set by Honorable Judge Meola at $ 100,000.00 full for each defendant.

Ortiz remains in custody in Pennsylvania until he is extradited.

Somers was remanded to the Passaic County Jail in lieu of bail.
