Acting Essex County Prosecutor Carolyn A. Murray announced today that the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office Professional Standards Bureau is investigating a firearm discharge by an East orange police officer earlier today.
According to authorities, there were no injuries as a result of the discharge but shortly before 3:00 pm, the officer's weapon discharged in the 300 block of Park Avenue.
There are no arrests made at this time. It is not clear if three individuals seeb escorted from the building into police vehicles were involved in the incident.
The circumstances surrounding the shooting remains under investigation authorities said.
Attorney General guidelines require all county Prosecutor’s Office to respond to incidents whenever a law enforcement officer discharges a weapon.
