Newark – Acting Essex County Prosecutor Robert D. Laurino and Newark Public Safety Director Anthony Ambrose announced today that the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide/Major Crimes Task Force, which includes detectives from the Newark Police Department, is investigating the fatal shooting of Mr.Victor Bryant, 28, of Newark.
Authorities said Bryant was shot around 1:30 p.m. Thursday in the 100 block of Chadwick Avenue then driven to the hospital in a private vehicle where doctors later pronounced him dead.
Bryant's death is the first official homicide for Newark and the third homicide for Essex County. There was a shooting that resulted in a double murder in the City of Orange on New Year's day according to officials.
At this time, no suspects have been identified, and no arrests have been made authorities said.
