Newark – Acting Essex County Prosecutor Robert D. Laurino and Newark Public Safety Director Anthony Ambrose announced today that the Newark Police Department and the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide/Major Crimes Task Force are investigating the murder of Rayshawn Ross, 39, of Newark.
Police said on Sunday, June 25, Ross and another man were shot on Edwin Place in Newark at approximately 8:49 pm.
Medics Ross pronounced dead at the scene.
The second victim was transported to an area hospital where he remains police said.
The investigation is extremely active.
So far, police have made no arrests.
