UPDATE: Armed Carjacking at Applebees Restaurant in Linden Under Investigation

Police officials in Linden are on the search for a suspect wanted for a carjacking that occurred at the Applebees restaurant in the city.

According to a statement released by police, the incident occurred a little after 10:30 pm Saturday in the 600 block of W. Edgar Road.

Linden Police officials say officers arrived and found the victim who reported that he was sitting in his vehicle, a 2016 Audi S3, when three black males wearing black hooded sweatshirts and black bandanas approached.

According to the victim, one of the suspects brandished a handgun and ordered him out of the car.

Police say the suspects then entered the vehicle and sped away from the scene.

Linden Police officials say officers pursued the vehicle in nearby Elizabeth until it was terminated in accordance with Attorney General's guidelines.

Police say the car was later abandoned in Elizabeth following a motor vehicle crash.

The victim did not suffer physical injuries in the carjacking officials said.

The incident remains under investigation by the Linden Police Detective Bureau, and anyone with information is urged to contact Det. Mike Burnette at (908) 474-8537.
