Newark –Acting Essex County Prosecutor Robert D. Laurino announced today that the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide/Major Crimes Task Force is investigating the fatal shooting of Mr. Israel L. Washington, 45, of Newark.
Police said Washington was shot and killed in front of 440 Myrtle Avenue at approximately 8:37 pm yesterday.
EMS transported him to University Hospital in Newark where he was pronounced dead at 9:45 pm authorities said.
The investigation is active and ongoing. No arrests have been made at this time.
