UPDATE: 20-Year-Old Franklin Township Woman Found Shot Inside Car in Franklin Township

FRANKLIN TWP., N.J. – Somerset County Prosecutor Michael H. Robertson and Chief of County Detectives John W. Fodor announced an investigation into the shooting of a 20-year old Somerset resident, which occurred in the area of Phillips Road and Matilda Avenue in the Somerset section of Franklin Township.

Prosecutor Robertson stated that on Tuesday, October 22, 2019, at approximately 7:20 p.m., the Franklin Township Police Department received a 9-1-1 call reporting shots fired, along with a motor vehicle stopped on Phillips Road, in the area of Matilda Avenue in Somerset.

Responding Franklin Township Police officers located a female driver unconscious behind the wheel of the aforementioned vehicle.

Once officers observed that the female driver had been shot, she was removed from the vehicle and with the assistance of medical personnel, emergency lifesaving measures were initiated.

The female victim was transported to an area trauma center and is listed in critical condition.

Detectives from the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit, the Crime Scene Investigations and Forensics Unit, and the Franklin Township Police Department responded to conduct the investigation which remains active and on-going. Somerset County Crime Stoppers is offering up to $5,000.00 in reward money for any information leading to the arrest and conviction of the individual(s) responsible for this shooting.
