UPDATE: 13-Year-Old Girl Struck, Killed by Vehicle Driven by Off-Duty NJ State Trooper in Westfield

A teenager was killed in Westfield Saturday evening when she struck by a service vehicle driven by an off-duty New Jersey State Police Trooper, acting Union County Prosecutor Grace H. Park announced Sunday.

According to Prosecutor Park , at approximately 8:30 p.m. Saturday, Westfield Police Department patrol units responded to the 1800 block of Central Avenue to find the 13-year-old victim at that location.

She was subsequently pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities have not officially released the girl's name at this time.

There were no charges filed.

The investigation is continuing, with the Union County Sheriff’s Office Crime Scene Unit, Union County Police Department, and Westfield Police Department assisting.
