UPDATE: 11-Year-Old Boy Critical After Car Strikes Him While Walking to School in Franklin Township

FRANKLIN TWP., N.J. – Somerset County Prosecutor Michael H. Robertson and Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Chief of County Detectives John W. Fodor announced that an investigation is underway into an 11-year old pedestrian who was struck by a vehicle while walking to school.

Prosecutor Robertson stated that on Monday at approximately 8:52 am, the Franklin Township Police Department responded to the scene of a motor vehicle crash involving a pedestrian at the intersection of Franklin Blvd and Holly Street.

Detectives from Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Collision Analysis Reconstruction Team (C.A.R.T.) also responded to the scene to conduct an investigation in conjunction with the Franklin Township Police Department. On-scene investigation determined that an 11-year old Franklin Township resident was crossing Franklin Blvd westbound, in or near the crosswalk, at the intersection of Holly Street when he was struck by a vehicle.

Official say the victim was transported to a local area hospital for treatment.

The juvenile victim, who suffered severe injuries, is listed in critical condition. The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and is cooperating with law enforcement. The investigation is on-going.
