Union, Newark Men Arrested For Illegal Dumping

Police in Newark are reporting the arrest of **Mr. Jean Joachim, 26, of Union**, and **Mr. Daryl Williams, 25, of Newark**, for an incident of illegal dumping incident Sunday night.

According to a statement by Newark Public Safety Director Anthony Ambrose, at approximately 4 p.m., members of the Illegal Dumping Task Force observed both men unloading a yellow box truck of several large plastic bags and household trash.

Director Ambrose said the suspects were seen unloading and dumping these materials on the sidewalk on Treacy Avenue.

Police immediately arrested both men and charged them with Illegal Dumping and Illegal Transport of Solid Waste.

The vehicle used to carry the dumped materials was towed and is subject to seizure by forfeiture.

These charges are merely accusations.

Each suspect is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Since the inception of the Illegal Dumping Task Force in June, 43 individuals have been arrested.
