Man Robbed, Assaulted in Linden

A 48-year-old Union City man was punched in the face during a robbery yesterday in Linden.

Police responded to the area of Roselle and Elm Street at approximately 4:32 p.m. Friday, Captain James Sarnicki said today.

According to the male victim, a black male approached and punched him in the face causing him to fall to the ground. 

The suspect reportedly made out with an undetermined amount of cash and a cell phone, added Sarnicki. 

The suspect then fled to Monmouth Avenue where he entered a black Hyundai Elantra and fled the area. 

The victim was taken to University Hospital in Newark after being attended to by the FD Ambulance and Medic 9. The victim had facial injuries and lost consciousness. Police said the incident was reported by an eyewitness.
