Police arrested a Del Haven woman for suspicion of DWI after she lost control of her vehicle then crashed it on the Garden State Parkway in Toms River
The incident happened at approximately 11 p.m. in the northbound lanes of the Garden State Parkway near mile marker 80.9 in Toms River.
Police say, Jordan Shelton, 19, was driving a Ford Focus when she crashed the vehicle then walked away from the scene.
According to police, the passenger inside the vehicle suffered severe injuries after a car struck them on the highway immediately after the crash.
The victim was rushed to area hospitals where they remain in critical but stable condition.
Police closed the left and center lanes for several hours to investigate the cause of the crash.
