Two-Alarm House Fire Injures One in Plainfield

One person was airlifted to the hospital after fire broke out inside a house in Plainfield overnight.

Heavy fire broke out inside a two and a half story wood framed house located in the 300 block of Bergen Street just before 12:30 a.m.

Firefighters arrived at the scene and began to knock down flames that tore through the second floor of the home according to preliminary reports.

When firefighters made it inside to search for trapped an injured occupants, they found the victims suffering severe injuries.

Crews were able to bring the blaze under control in just under an hours with the cause of the fire under investigation.

PLAINFIELD PD UPDATED 6:22a.m. Shortly after midnight Fire, Police and EMS responded to a fully involved structure fire in the 300 block of Bergen Street. A 57-year-old female was taken out of the house with severe burns. She was flown to Saint Barnabas Hospital in critical condition. The fire took some time to get under control and the cause is under investigation at this time.
