Three Shot, One Stabbed Near Night Club in Newark's North Ward

Newark

There is an active and ongoing investigation underway into a shooting that injured three people in Newark's North Ward during the overnight hours.

The incident happened at approximately 11:45 p.m., where officers responded to reports of shots fired outside the Marbella Lounge located at 610 Broadway.

Police arrived, then taped the area off after finding two victims suffering severe injuries after being struck by bullets.

The victims were rushed to University Hospital for treatment and remained in serious but stable condition.

While police worked the crime scene, officials at Clara Maass Hospital informed them that a victim suffering two gunshot wounds and a person suffering stab wounds entered the emergency room just before 12:25 a.m.

Officials said they believe the hospital walk-in victims were injured on Broadway.

Police say several shell casings were found in the supermarket's parking lot across the street, but they have not confirmed if the shooting originated inside the night club.

The motive for the attack is under investigation and no arrests have been reported.
