Newark, Irvington, Elizabeth Women Charged with Alleged Violent Crimes in Newark
Police in Newark are reporting to the public that its members of the Fugitive Apprehension Team arrested Ms. Aqueelah K. Butler (left), 35, of Newark wanted for an aggravated assault stabbing that occurred on Wednesday, June 14.
According to Newark Public Safety Director Anthony Ambrose, at approximately 9:30 p.m., a male victim arrived at the 5th Precinct with a stab wound following a quarrel.
EMS transported the victim to University Hospital where doctors treated the victim for his non-fatal injuries then released him.
Director Ambrose said detectives developed sufficient evidence to identify Ms. Aqueelah K. Butler as a suspect in the incident and obtained a warrant for her arrest.
Detectives took Ms. Butler into custody today (Tuesday) without incident and charged her with Aggravated Assault, Unlawful Possession of a Weapon and Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose.
In another incident, Director Ambrose said police arrested Ms. Jessica Granger (middle), 30, of Irvingtontoday for an aggravated assault incident that occurred on Friday, June 16.
According to Director Ambrose, an object was thrown at a female victim following a quarrel.
Detectives developed sufficient evidence to identify Ms. Granger as a suspect in this incident and police issued a warrant for her arrest.
Police charged Ms. Granger with Aggravated Assault, Unlawful Possession of a Weapon and Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose.
In the last arrest for a robbery, that took place on July 3rd at the Family Dollar located at 660 Clinton Avenue detectives took Ms. Tyyonna M. Martin (right), 23, of Elizabeth into custody.
Director Ambrose said, at approximately 6 p.m., a woman entered the store and stole various items.
Detectives developed sufficient evidence to identify Ms. Tyyonna Martin as a suspect in this incident and charged her with Robbery.
These charges are merely accusations. Each suspect is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
