Suspicious Device Reported at NJ Nuclear Complex Deemed Not a Threat

Salem County OEM has determined a suspicious device report at the PSEG Salem/Hope Creek facility not to be a threat.

According to authorities, around 9:30 a.m. a 4,800 gallon tank truck arrived at PSEG Nuclear's generating complex in Lower Alloways Creek Township, to deliver chemicals to the plant.

Officials say as per protocol security team member checking the truck spotted what appeared to be a suspicious device in a tool box and requested off-site officials’ assistance.

The Bomb squads from the FBI and New Jersey State Police, the Salem County Prosecutor's Office, Salem County Sheriff's Office, a bomb-sniffing K-9, Lower Alloways Creek Township Police and PSEG Nuclear security collaboratively issued an all-clear at approximately 1:30 p.m. after it was determined the item was not an explosive.
