Armed Suspects Fire Shot Inside Irvington Township Business After Stealing Money, Clothing, Tobacco

Irvington Township

A sign on the entrance door of an Irvington Township store clearly informs customers that they should not wear masks while entering the establishment and conducting sales transactions.

According to the owner, the sign was placed there after two males rushed in the store with weapons drawn and announced the robbery of the business on Wednesday afternoon. The visually shaken up employee inside the store sadly bowed her head and wept when she told RLS Metro Breaking that the suspects were verbally violent and careless during the heist.

Irvington Township officials said, in the second armed robbery of a business on the same block in just two days, suspects surprised the owner of the variety store located at 760 Springfield Avenue when they ran in and pointed guns at the owner then took money, clothing and tobacco products.

Police say while the suspects were walking to the door to exit the establishment, the victim attempted to follow the two armed men at which time one of them swiftly turned around and fired a shot in the owner's direction.

While outside the business, police say the suspects carjacked another male victim then sped away from the scene in his 2007 grey Volkswagen Jetta.

According to police, on Monday morning, an armed male entered a bodega several two doors down from the variety store and robbed the owner of an unknown amount of proceeds.
