Police officials in Paterson alerted local hospitals to be on the lookout for walk-in gunshot patients as detectives investigated a shots-fired incident that occurred in a neighborhood in the city on Tuesday evening.
According to police, multiple rounds of gunfire erupted in the vicinity of 297 12th Avenue at approximately 5:10 p.m.
Police say officers arrived at the scene and found evidence that a shooting occurred, but after a search of the neighborhood, no victims were found.
Units collected about a half dozen shell casings after a gunman fired rounds that entered a bodega in the area.
The motive for the shooting is under investigation and the suspect remains at-large.
