Shooting Injures Five in Newark's West Ward

A shooting in the city's West Ward has to people headed to the hospital at this time.

Police and EMS responded to reports of shots fired that rang out in the 100 block of Isabella Avenue shortly before 8 p.m. where they located three people suffering from apparent gunshot injuries.

One of the the victims is suffering a gunshot wound to the leg while the other suffered a gunshot wound to the back according to reports.

Police have a crime scene established in the area.

UPDATE 8:12 p.m. There is one other person that has been struck by gunfire at this time. This victim was located on 18th Avenue and Carolina on the Irvington border in an unknown condition.

UPDATE 8:26 p.m. A person just checked into University Hospital suffering injury from gunfire. It is believed that this person was shot at the Isabella location.

UPDATE 10:30 p.m.: Two of the victims are in critical condition while the three others suffered non-life threatening injuries. According to police, weapons and a large amount of marijuana were found inside the home. Guns were also recovered outside.
