A hail of bullets that rang out on a Newark South Ward street had the male victim transported by private vehicle to the hospital this afternoon.
Multiple rounds of gunfire rang out in the 100 block of Chadwick Avenue at around 2:30 p.m. sending police to the scene where arriving officers found evidence that a shooting occurred but no victim was located.
Officials at University Hospital contacted police when a male victim entered the emergency room suffering a gunshot wound a short time after the shooting.
Police are looking for a gray Charger occupied by several males who sped from the scene.
Newark Police are investigating.
**UPDATE 5:39PM : The unoccupied vehicle was located in a driveway on Gerard Place in Newark.**
