Newark Police are investigating a shots fired incident that occurred early on Monday morning.
According to a statement released by Newark Police officials, at approximately 12:15 a.m., police responded to 225 Washington Street in Newark on reports of shots fired.
Police say that EMS units were called to the scene for an assault victim but no shooting victims have been located as of yet.
**UPDATE:** at approximately 6:19 p.m. today, police returned to the scene and found shell casings.
The investigation remains active.
