A man was killed Friday morning after he was struck by a tractor trailer in Elizabeth.
According to authorities, officers responded to the northbound side of Route 1&9 near the Bayway Circle for a report of a pedestrian down in the roadway before 11 a.m.
Upon arrival, officers determined that an older male pedestrian entered the roadway when the truck struck him authorities said.
According to authorities, the truck driver stopped immediately and contacted emergency responders.
EMS rushed the victim to Trinitas Hospital in Elizabeth, where he succumbed to his injuries.
The investigation is active and ongoing.
