Video: Paterson Teen Charged in 'Knockout' Assault, Surrenders

The 18-year-old teen caught on video, knocking out an elderly man back in December, turned himself in this afternoon.

The attacker, identified as 18-year-old Kristian Gonzalez - who attends Great Falls Academy - was sought, after a video of the attack went viral on the internet.

Gonzalez who walked into the police department, accompanied by his lawyer, Harley Breite.

Gonzalez was arrested and will be taken to a juvenile detention center.

He was charged with aggravated assault and endangering a victim.

According to Breite, Gonzalez has schizophrenic and had attention deficit disorder which requires him to take 20 milligrams daily of Abilify, an anti-psychotic drug, and 1,000 milligrams daily of Depakote, an anti-convulsant. Breite also added that the person who recorded the video of the assault, provoked his client.

It remains unclear if prosecutors will charge Gonzalez as a juvenile.
