A shooting that left one person dead overnight in Paterson has detectives from the Passaic County Prosecutor's Office searching for a suspect.
Residents in the area of 12th Avenue and East 23rd Street contacted police after they heard several rounds of gunfire that rang out in the area at around 8:40 p.m.
According to The Passaic County Prosecutor's Office, units arriving at the scene found the unconscious and unresponsive male victim suffering a gunshot wound at that location.
Medics pronounced the man dead at the scene authorities said.
The motive for the shooting remains under investigation.
The identity of the victim has not been released at this time.
