Passaic County Dentist, Husband Charged with Healthcare Fraud

Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia Valdes announces the arrest of Dr. Amy Rojas, 37, and her husband Oscar Guevara, 41, of South Hackensack,

Authorities say Dr. Rojas is a dentist and owner of Allure Dental, Prospect Street in Passaic, N.J. and Cedar Lane in Teaneck, N.J. while Oscar Guevara is an X-Ray technician.

According to police during March 2018, Oscar Guevara acted as a dentist and unlawfully performed dental procedures at Allure Dental.

Police say he was listed as a dentist on the Allure Dental website although his is not licensed as a dentist in New Jersey and received no formal dental training.

Police say Guevara also wrongfully installed braces on a sixteen-year-old female, who needed to follow up and remedial care from a legitimate dentist.

Police say Rojas and Guevara submitted false billing to insurance carriers for procedures supposedly performed by Rojas but actually performed by Guevara.

Rojas is charged with Healthcare Claims Fraud and Conspiracy to Commit Healthcare Claims Fraud according to authorities.

Police say Guevara is charged with Practicing Dentistry without a License and Conspiracy to Commit Healthcare Claims Fraud.

A criminal complaint is merely an accusation.

Despite this accusation, the defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
