Police closed off the vicinity of Springfield and Clinton avenues as they investigated a shots fired investigation that was reported on Stuyvesant Avenue during the overnight hours.
Officers responded to reports of shots fired on Stuyvesant Avenue before 11:15 p.m. where they arrived and requested lights and a crime scene units after locating evidence that a shooting had occurred at that location.
There were no confirmed severe injuries and police spent more than an hour searching for evidence to support a possible motive for the shooting according to residents who observed the incident from their homes.
The Essex County Prosecutor's Office could not confirm a homicide investigation for the victim as of 7:10 a.m.
Irvington Police officials did not respond to requests for public information regarding the incident.
The incident remains under investigation.
