Newark Police are reporting the arrest of Mr. Jose Quinones, 35, for an alleged robbery that occurred in the city's Ironbound Section.
Newark Public Safety Director Anthony Ambrose said in a press release that at approximately 5:15 p.m., police patrolling the 500-block of Ferry Street observed two men fighting.
Director Ambrose said a victim was robbed struggling to retrieve his property when police assigned to patrol the area happened upon the incident.
The suspect, Mr. Jose Quinones, fled on foot when he saw officers approach.
After a brief pursuit police took Mr. Quinones in custody.
Three police officers were treated for injuries sustained during the pursuit.
Authorities charged Quinones with Robbery, Theft, and two counts of Resisting Arrest.
These charges lodged against Mr. Quinones are mere accusations. He is considered innoncent until proven guilty in a court of law.
