Newark Technology High School Students Volunteer at North Ward Assisted Living Facility

Newark

The Technology High School Student Council, community service sub-committee, planned and spearheaded a day with the patients at the New Vista Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center located at 300 Broadway in the city's North Ward.

According to the group's adviser, the girls and boys basketball teams also attended, and as usual, students showed up with attitudes to serve wholeheartedly.

They bounced basketballs, played games of dominos, cards, and bingo along with polishing nails of seniors, provided hand massages, gave out cookies, and most importantly, they interacted with residents who received assisted living in the facility.

"Our students made patients feel pretty and young again with just a little nail polish. They allowed the patients to regain hope and a sense of independence by allowing them to share their knowledge and stories. And our students patiently listened, smiled, and serviced them with Technolgy Panther pride" the organizer said.
