Newark

This is Britney Wilson and she is a 28-year-old Newark native who was actually born at University Hospital. Britney says she spent part of my childhood next door in Hillside.

Britney's journey into medicine began with the personal loss of her grandmother due to cancer and father who died of drug abuse.

"These experiences opened my eyes to biomedical research. Through my explorations in biomedical research, I discovered the vibrant wondrous career of a physician" Britney said.

As she fast-forwards six years into her life from high school, Britney is now a second-year student at Rutgers- New Jersey Medical School.

"My ultimate career goal is to become a physician working to address the medical, social, and emotional needs of the medically underserved while also serving as mentor and source of inspiration for next generation of underrepresented youth."
