Newark Man Wanted for Contempt Arrested with Loaded Weapon; Police

Police say, Mr. Jabari Sanders, 21, of Newark, wanted for contempt, was arrested while carrying a loaded gun last night.

According to police, at approximately 9:45 p.m., 1st Precinct police officers patrolling the area of Spruce Street near Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard, when they observed Sanders in possession of a handgun, a loaded .380 caliber.

Police immediately arrested and charged with the Unlawful Possession of a Weapon, Possession of a Prohibited Weapon (defaced handgun), Possession of Marijuana, Possession of Prescription Drugs (Promethazine) and Contempt of Court.

These charges are merely accusations.

The suspect is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
