UPDATE: Man Wanted in Armed Robbery of Taxi Driver at Union Motel Arrested

A man accused of choking then robbing a cab driver at a Union motel on Jan. 23rd is now in custody.

Police say the taxi driver was choked after he drove a customer to the Garden State Motel on Jan. 23rd at 12:45 a.m.

According to police the suspect -identified as Hassan L. Dixon-, with addresses in Newark and Phillipsburg, got into the cab in Bloomfield, made a stop in Newark, and ended up at the motel.

Police say while at the motel, Dixon robbed the driver then ran into the motel and disappeared.

Dixon is currently being held at Hudson County Jail on unrelated charges and will be picked up by detectives shortly police said.

Authorities charged Dixon with armed robbery.
